As General Counsel / CRO (US), you’ll play a critical role in spearheading bunq’s expansion into the US. You will build and lead a robust legal, risk, and compliance framework from the ground up, ensuring we operate safely and soundly in a new, complex market.
Take Ownership:
Lead Regulatory Affairs: Act as the primary point of contact for all federal and state regulators, expertly navigating the US licensing landscape and managing all regulatory relationships.
Build the Framework: Design, implement, and scale bunq’s US legal, risk, and compliance frameworks, leveraging AI and automation to create strong, efficient, and modern controls.
Provide Strategic Counsel: Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership, providing effective challenge and credible critiques on financial performance, strategy, and the safety and soundness of our US operations.
Scale Teams & Partnerships: Launch and lead the US legal and risk teams, and own the management of critical banking and technology partnerships that will fuel our growth.

You are a seasoned General Counsel or Chief Risk Officer with hands-on experience launching and scaling U.S. banking operations, including teams, licenses, and partnerships.
You have a proven ability to lead U.S. regulatory affairs and have served as the primary point of contact for federal and state regulators.
You are skilled in using AI and automation to strengthen legal, compliance, and risk control frameworks across a fast-scaling operation.
You are experienced in overseeing safe and sound operations and are capable of providing effective challenge to management.
