Quantitative Risk Modeler

We’re on the lookout for a Quantitative Risk Modeler who can help us invest our users’ funds wisely while keeping them accessible whenever they're needed. And if some stormy financial weather is on the horizon, you’ll have the tools to steer us confidently through it.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you'll take a forward-looking, data-driven approach to understanding and modeling financial and credit risk. You’ll be making forecasts about what we’ll need in terms of liquidity, navigate interest rate fluctuations, and assess creditworthiness as you expand the lending book.

Take Ownership

• Develop and maintain models that capture key financial risks, such as expected credit loss, deposit behavior, and interest rates.

• Ensure models are transparent: they should be easy to explain and come with clear documentation that anyone— employees and auditors—can understand.

• Keep models fresh with the latest data, aligning them with all the regulatory changes and bunq’s growth.

• Turn those model insights into real business value by plugging them into dashboards and systems that shape our big decisions.

• Team up with colleagues and regulators to keep things transparent and agile.

• Spot any gaps early, suggest new models or fixes where they’ll really make a difference, and train employees to use model insights in a way that makes them truly useful.

• You have a basic understanding of how interest rates work and how banks and financial institutions typically make money.

• You have a strong foundation in data analysis and stochastic modeling, with a knack for spotting patterns in past data and using them to make smart predictions about the future.

• You’re fluent in Python (or a similar language) and know how to put it to work—whether it’s cleaning and manipulating data, automating workflows, or building reports from scratch.

• You love using AI as an assistant and sparring partner, not a replacement for your own judgment. You take the time to frame problems well and then use AI to explore ideas, gather insights, and tackle the heavy lifting.
